The second training on Waste Management and Renewable Energy for CP member countries, Incheon, South Korea, 25 June- 15 July, 2017


The second International training on Waste Management and Renewable Energy in response to Climate Change was concluded at Incheon, South Korea on 14th July, 2017. The training programme was organized as a Joint Fellowship Programme between KOICA and Colombo Plan, in which 18 participants from 12 Colombo Plan member countries took part.

The training was imparted at both Incheon and Jeju islands with theory and practical sessions as well as visit to waste management and renewable energy fields in Korea. The topics included several aspects related to waste management, its policies, strategies, operation systems, as well as a study visit to Korea Institute of Energy Research. The training was imparted by National Institute of Environmental Human Resource Development (NIEHRD), under the Ministry of Environment, South Korea.


The closing function was addressed by Dr. Thomas Scaria, Senior Programme Officer, Environment and Climate Change Desk, Colombo Plan who appreciated both Organizers and participants for the successful completion of the training. Representing Secretary General, he distributed awards for best country reports and action plans. A power point presentation on Overview of Colombo Plan was also presented. The programme was coordinated by Ms. HWANG Hyerim, international Coordinator, NIEHRD.


Dr. Thomas Scaria has also visited KOICA Head Quarters and attended an evaluation meeting with Ms. Jacqueline SONG, its programme manager and discussed on the future collaboration programmes.

The third training in the series, under the joint fellowship programme will be held in May 2018 at NIEHRD, Inch20031717_1241774519265307_4240667604362867651_neon, South Korea.
