The Second Gender Focal Point Conference will be hosted by The Colombo Plan Gender Affairs Programme (CPGAP) from the 3rd to 5th of May 2017 at Hotel Heritance, Negombo, Sri Lanka. The three day programme aims to unite 27 member countries of the Colombo Plan to collaborate and develop regional action plans taking into account, the recommendations made from the First Focal Point Conference held in 2015.
The Conference aims to:
- Revisit the Recommendations from the 1st Gender Focal Point Conference held on 26th – 27th November, 2015.
- Learning and Sharing on: Gender Responsive Budgeting; Gender and Disaster Management; and SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Gender Inequalities). These topics are based on recommendations from the 1st Gender Focal Point and follow up from the Country Consultative Meeting held on 26th – 30th September 2016.
- Share experience on the progress, experiences and knowledge on advancing women and children’s development on policies, strategies and programmes of member countries, especially focusing on Gender Responsive Budgeting, Gender and Disaster Management and Sustainable Development Goals.
- Developing regional action plans that contribute to the overall objectives on Gender Equality and Children’s Development and reinforce partnerships within countries, institutions and CP GAP.
This year the Conference aims to focus on four gender- based interventions which have been extensively discussed and at the heart of international platforms and is in need of regional emphasis. Gender Responsive Budgeting, Gender and Disaster Management and Gender and Sustainable Developmental Goals will be the key areas under discussion. Each intervention will be elucidated by an expert, providing an outline for country representatives to discuss, streamline their thoughts, ideas and concepts, which would contribute towards regional plans while strengthening partnerships within and among countries.
